Start with setup.
Choose your AI.

Windows setup is the recommended entry point. The engine remains playable with AI offline. For private local inference, use the matching model pack; external providers are a separate, explicit choice.

First-run setup belongs in the product.

  • Public Windows download: 219.1 MB setup, plus 1.8 GB if you choose the local AI pack. Allow additional space for extraction, game content and models.
  • Classic content is downloaded during first-run setup. The newer development launcher also looks for owned RA2 files in Steam libraries, including secondary drives, and imports them locally.
  • If owned RA2 content cannot be found, RA2 setup must explain what is missing and offer import or retry. Commercial game data is never part of our download.
  • Local AI needs additional memory and storage; performance depends on your machine. A validated minimum-hardware matrix is still pending, so we do not promise a model speed.

The newer installer defaults to local AI. Choosing an external provider can involve credentials and provider charges; it should never happen silently. Existing public alpha behavior is not presented as proof of the newer installer.

    Install or extract

    Use Windows setup for shortcuts and uninstall support, or keep the ZIP fully portable.

    Choose your battlefield

    Launch OpenRA AI normally, or run Play-Red-Sea-2026.cmd to open the current authored vertical slice.

    Hold your Ask shortcut

    Use Ctrl+Space on Windows or Option+Space on macOS. The in-game hint always follows your remapped AI Assistant hotkey.

Checksums are published beside every downloadable artifact. The current Windows alpha is explicitly marked unsigned; a future setup will only be marked signed after Authenticode verification.
Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge are not bundled. OpenRA AI ships original modern factions and separately licensed reusable capability code—not proprietary RA2 factions, maps, art, audio, or game data.
